Farmville Tips and Secrets – Should you buy Farmville Farm Equipment?

Farmville is a great game by Zynga played by millions of fans on social sites like Facebook.  In the early phases of the game, you are working hard to plow, plant, and harvest your crops since you are doing it by hand.  As you begin to level up, you are given the chance to purchase farm equipment to help you get these tasks done much faster and easier.  However before you spend your hard earned money, take a little time to figure out if these items are worth the expense.

Farm Equipment is Expensive

The mechanized farm equipment like a harvester, seeder, or plow doesn’t come cheap.  They will run you about 30,000 coins which is a lot of money.  And especially in the early parts of the game, make certain you don’t leave yourself with too little money to purchase other critical items like seeds, fertilizer, etc.  A mechanized seeder doesn’t do you much good if you can’t purchase seeds for the machine to plant.

You can decide which pieces of equipment to purchase first.  It is a good idea to purchase the machine you will use most often first and then decide on the others as you accumulate enough coins.

Farm Equipment costs money to operate

Once you purchase a piece of farm equipment, there are still additional costs associated with the operation of those machines such as fuel.  These machines can use up fuel pretty quickly so if you have a large farm, you may run up some large fuel bills.

It is especially important to keep this in mind if your machine cannot cover your farm on one tank of fuel.  You can always wait for your tank to refill on its own.  However if you want to maximize the return from your farm, you need to consider purchasing fuel refills so you don’t have to wait to use your farm equipment.  Since you can only purchase fuel refills with farm cash, you have to be very careful how much you buy since farm cash is more difficult to come by.

Efficiency is key

You can lower your fuel expense if you stagger your crop plantings properly.  That way you don’t have to plant and harvest everything at once.  Instead you can work on a section of your farm at one time and then another section later on once the crops mature.  Otherwise you could lose some of your crops if they are all ready to be harvested and you run out of fuel.  Proper planning is key.

Even after you play Farmville for just a short period of time, you learn that you can post Farmville announcements to your Facebook profile.  Even little accomplishments will be prompted for you to decide if you want to announce it to the world (or at least your Facebook friends!).  You have the option to post or not so what should you do?

Well there are some posts you absolutely want to make in order to assist your neighbors.  These posts alerts the other players of bonuses you may wish to share with them.  No one wants to lose out on the bonuses.  So there are some messages to post and others you should avoid.  Here are some more

Let your friends share in your success

Typically when you earn a ribbon, you are given the option to “share the wealth” with your friends.  You should definately do so in order for your friends to get the benefit from your accomplishment.  It is free to you and helps them out.  What could be better?

Post to help a stray animal

You definately want to post an announcement if you get a message that a stray animal ended up wandering on your farm.  You should help this poor animal find a home and the best way to do so is to post an announcement.  If you post an announcement telling your friends that an animal is available for adoption, many would want to take advantage of that since it makes money for them basically for free and also helps the poor lonely animal.  There are some animals which can only be obtained in this way so these announcements can be very important.

Announce a Perfect Bunch of Flowers

When you harvest flowers, you can begin to collect perfect bunches of them which you can distribute to your friends.  These are limited so your friends will appreciate the opportunity.  Sometimes you also have the opportunity to share a mystery egg from your chicken coop with your friends.  The only they can find out about this and take advantage is through your post.

Don’t Make these posts

Many of the posts and announcements are useful and recommended.  However some posts should not be made since they don’t help and tend to clutter up the pages and get annoying to your friends.  Examples include announcements when you level up.  It doesn’t help anyone and just takes up a lot of room.  Just keep in mind that you should post anything which is of benefit to your friends.  Otherwise don’t do it.
